When it comes to learning a new , we usually find it a hard to but admirable goal . Most of the time , we put it on our new year ? s resolutions lists and neglect to it . This might stem from our doubts about our capabilities and worries that we might have passed the to learn a new language . However , the notion that one might be too old to a language is false . Language , as any other skill , is a completely attainable objective for people of any age .

The main reason people may think this is ( CPH ) . Simply put , CPH argues that there is a fundamental length of time where the brain develops rapidly . During this rapid development , parts of the brain specialize in certain tasks including . Furthermore , if there is an obstacle that prevents the brain from forming at this stage , the brain won ? t be able to fully in the future when the obstacle is removed . This is because our brains lose as we get older .

Nevertheless , there have been many cases of " feral " where children raised in isolation without contact with other humans . Such is the case of Anna , who was found tied to a chair in a dark room , had never been bathed , and had been fed only milk until the age of 5 . If the were to be believed , Anna couldn ? t have spoken a word in her short life since she never got any . On the contrary , Anna , after being rescued , developed despite being functionally deaf . Another case of a feral child is Isabella , who was in a dark room with her deaf and mute mother , seven months after being discovered she was able to speak up to 2 , 000 words .

In conclusion , while it is easier to believe an past its prime can ? t learn ; it has been proven otherwise by feral children , who despite missing their critical period of development acquired language . If they can do it , you can too !
