Julius Caesar was a very important leader in ancient Rome . When he was a young man , pirates captured him and asked for , which means they wanted money to let him go . Later in life , Caesar became a strong general and protected Rome by fighting off , who were people from outside the empire that tried to invade . As a leader , Caesar established new rules and changes to make Rome better for its people . But not everyone agreed with him . Some Romans believed he was taking too much power and called him a , which means someone who turns against their country .
