Some countries have started to build man - islands to solve problems like lack of space . One example is in a populated city where people need more places to live . These islands of sand , rock , and other materials . They often have modern , such as shops , schools , and hospitals .

People who on these islands usually live in small apartments . Some live in cramped conditions or even in run - areas . Others are lucky and have nice homes with solar panels on the roof to make artificial energy from the sun . Still , not everything is perfect . As for water , it comes from the , or people collect rainwater .

Many residents and inhabitants are in building or working on the island . The place is often with people , and sometimes even crowded with people during special events . Unlike populated villages in the countryside , city dwellers here are used to the noise and busy life .

One girl said , " As for me , I prefer the island . It ? s by the sea , and I love the . "

Life on a man - made is not always easy . Some people live in houses or ramshackle buildings . But many believe it is better than living in poor areas of some developing or third - countries , where there isn ? t always a supply of water or electricity . In developed countries , people have more support , but not everyone can move there .

Even with its problems , the island gives people a place to rest and take . And although many challenges remain , people are engaged in making life better every day .
