O conto tradicional ou apresenta uma estrutura : situação inicial ( apresentação do protagonista e das circunstâncias iniciais ) , ( narração das peripécias e da ajuda ou das dificuldades criadas pelas personagens adjuvantes e oponentes ) e , por fim , ( desfecho da ação ) .
Assim , este género caracteriza - se por ter uma ação , geralmente sem intrigas . Apresenta um carácter e / ou lúdico . Localiza - se num tempo e num espaço indefinido e tem um número de personagens que , normalmente , não têm próprio ( designam - se , por exemplo , por " o rapaz " , " a velha " . . . ) . Pode , nas suas peripécias , contemplar números , objetos , entidades sobrenaturais , etc .
O conto tradicional versa temas como as do quotidiano , os hábitos , os costumes , os dilemas e aqueles com que nos deparamos no dia a dia .
