About this activity
Multiplying Decimals involves the same steps as multiplying whole numbers, but with extra attention to the decimal point. First, ignore the decimals and multiply the numbers as if they were whole. Then, count the total number of decimal places in both original numbers and place the decimal point in the product accordingly. This ensures the result reflects the correct value.
Example:
Multiply 2.3 × 0.4
→ Multiply 23 × 4 = 92
→ Place the decimal: 1 place from 2.3 + 1 place from 0.4 = 2 decimal places
→ Final answer: 0.92
Example:
Multiply 2.3 × 0.4
→ Multiply 23 × 4 = 92
→ Place the decimal: 1 place from 2.3 + 1 place from 0.4 = 2 decimal places
→ Final answer: 0.92
