Explicación

Hace 209 años que ocurrió.

El Grito de Asencio, que ocurrió en febrero de 1811, fue el primer levantamiento de los Orientales contra el poder español.

Montevideo se mantuvo fiel a España (eran realistas, fieles al rey) luego de que la Junta de Mayo se formara en Buenos Aires.

Los Orientales comienzan a sentir la necesidad de decidir por sí mismos y no depender de España que está a miles de kilómetros y que gobierna sin tenerlos en cuenta.

Realistas eran los que apoyaban al reino de España, a los Españoles.
