As can be seen , with the exception of 2 ? ? , all the top nine cities are predicted to grow , which is unsurprising given the continued shift from rural to urban living illustrated in the chart . Delhi and Dhaka are set to have some of the biggest rises in population , increasing by 3 ? ? and 4 ? ? million respectively , with Kinshasa also growing very substantially . In the more economically developed countries , nearly 5 ? ? out of every five people already live in cities , and by 2035 , the global urban population is expected to rise by just over 6 ? ? per cent , the bulk of which will occur in 7 ? ? developed countries . The greater increase in these regions is also reflected in the table . It shows the three cities from the richest countries ? Tokyo , OOsaka , andNew York ? falling down the rankings in 2035 , while two African cities ? 8 ? ? and Kinshasa ? are forecast to have entered the top twelve biggest cities for the first time . Finally , it is interesting to note that the majority of these megacities are located on the coast or major rivers and this trend looks set to continue .
