About this activity
Fever, also known as pyrexia, is an elevation of body temperature above the normal range, usually triggered by the body's immune response to infection or other factors. It's a sign that the body is fighting off an illness and is generally not a disease itself. A fever is not considered medically significant until the body temperature is above 100.4°F (38°C).
Symptoms:
Elevated body temperature (above 100.4°F or 38°C is considered a fever)
Sweating
Chills and shivering
Body aches and headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Flushed complexion or hot skin
Faster heart rate
Potential for delirium and convulsions in severe cases, especially in infants, children, and the elderly.
