El buen diseño gráfico se sostiene en cuatro principios fundamentales conocidos como C.R.A.P: Contraste, Repetición, Alineación y Proximidad. Estos principios, planteados por Robin Williams en *The Non-Designer’s Design Book*, permiten que cualquier pieza gráfica o presentación transmita su mensaje de manera clara, atractiva y profesional. El contraste aporta interés visual y resalta la información importante a través de diferencias marcadas en color, tipografía, tamaño, posición o estilo. La repetición genera unidad y coherencia al reutilizar elementos visuales como fuentes, formas o colores, lo que ayuda a crear un diseño reconocible y ordenado. La alineación organiza los elementos de forma lógica, garantizando que cada componente esté conectado visualmente con otro, lo cual facilita la lectura y la comprensión, incluso en diseños aparentemente caóticos. La proximidad agrupa los elementos relacionados en un mismo espacio, transmitiendo cohesión y evitando confusión, mientras que separa lo que no guarda relación. Aplicados en conjunto, estos principios convierten las presentaciones y productos gráficos en composiciones más armónicas, comprensibles y estéticamente sólidas, ofreciendo un criterio claro tanto para diseñar como para analizar la calidad visual de cualquier material.
