La aplicación de cotas y escalas debe mantener coherencia de unidades en todo el dibujo.

Las escalas pueden indicarse como 1:1, 1:2 y 2:1 para adaptar el tamaño de la pieza al formato del dibujo.

La acotación de una pieza nunca debe repetirse en diferentes vistas.

Una escala 1:1 quiere decir que el dibujo tiene el mismo tamaño que la pieza real.

Las cotas se deben colocar siempre en color rojo para destacarlas.

La tolerancia geométrica solo se aplica a la forma, nunca a la posición o la orientación.

En un dibujo técnico, la acotación indica las dimensiones reales de la pieza y, a veces, su tolerancia.

Una escala 3:2 significa que el dibujo es más pequeño que la realidad.

Las cotas lineales se dibujan con líneas de extensión y líneas de cota que terminan en flechas.
