Scientists in Canada have been the brain in the hope of understanding more about what happens when we daydream . In one recent experiment , researchers monitored the brain activity of test subjects while they were a simple routine task ? pushing a button when numbers appeared on a screen . After the subjects had been the task for several minutes , they began daydreaming ? and parts of their brain associated with problem - solving began lighting up on the brain scanner .

The research is scientists ? perception of daydreaming , because it shows that when we daydream , our brains are more active than when we focus on a routine task . One conclusion of the study is that when people are to solve complex problems , it might be more productive to switch to a simpler task and let their mind wander . Psychologists interested in creativity and imagination will be developments in this area closely as our understanding of the mind and its workings deepens .
