La evaluación diagnóstica en Educación Física es fundamental porque permite conocer el punto de partida de los estudiantes en cuanto a sus habilidades motrices, condición física, conocimientos y actitudes, facilitando al docente planificar actividades adaptadas a sus necesidades reales. También ayuda a identificar fortalezas, debilidades y posibles necesidades educativas especiales, promoviendo la inclusión y la participación de todos. Favorece que los estudiantes tomen conciencia de su estado físico y se motiven a establecer metas de mejora personal. Además, sirve como referencia para medir el progreso durante el año escolar, comparando avances en evaluaciones posteriores. Su importancia radica en que no busca calificar, sino orientar el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, asegurando que cada alumno tenga igualdad de oportunidades para desarrollarse integralmente. Contribuye al logro de competencias del currículo dominicano como el cuidado de la salud, la disciplina, el trabajo en equipo y el respeto a las reglas. En definitiva, es una herramienta clave para garantizar aprendizajes significativos en la Educación Física.
