Gels can be hard to apply, file, and maintain and have almost no odor. Typically, gels are harder than liquid and powder nail enhancements because they can be formulated to be softer or more flexible than liquid and powder systems.

Gels can generate anbuncomfortable amount of heat during the curing process. This is from a chemical reaction called an exothermic reaction, which releases heat.

Bonding or base gels vary in viscosity and are applied thickly to the nail. They are usually then cured.

An inhibition layer consists of unccured gel and or leftover solvents that create a smooth and shiny surface on the nail after the gel cures.
