When I was a child , I lived in a small town . Many things were different back then . For example , my grandfather ( tell ) us stories by the fireplace every night . My grandmother ( cook ) delicious bread every morning , and the smell filled the whole house .

School was also different . Teachers ( be ) very strict , and students ? t ( not / talk ) during lessons . We ( write ) everything by hand , and we ? t ( not / use ) computers at all .

Sometimes I wonder : you ( walk ) long distances to school too ? Or you ( take ) the bus ? My friends and I ? t ( not / own ) bicycles , so we always walked .

Now life has changed a lot , but in the past , people ? t ( not / spend ) so much time outdoors anymore , and children ( prefer ) to play on their tablets ? . But in the old days , we really ( enjoy ) the simple things .
