لا يمكن أن يبدأ النص بأسلوب التعجب إذا كانت الجملة خبرية.

أسلوب التعجب لا يمكن أن يأتي في جملة فيها فعل مضارع.

في أسلوب التعجب يجب أن يكون الخبر مرفوعاً دائماً.

يمكن أن يكون التعبير التعجبى بجملة اسمية مثل: 'ما السماءُ جميلةٌ!' أو بجملة فعلية مثل: 'ما أروعَ السماءَ!'

لا يجوز استخدام أداة التعجب 'يا' مع أسلوب التعجب وإنما تستخدم كنداء فقط.

أسلوب التعجب غالباً يبدأ بأداة مثل ما أو كم.

'كم' تستخدم فقط مع الأسماء لا مع الأفعال.

يُستخدم أسلوب التعجب لإبراز الانفعالات بشدة.

'بئس' تستخدم في أسلوب التعجب للتعبير عن الذم.
