En resumen el filtro centrífugo limpia el aceite aprovechando la inercia de las partículas sólidas cuando el aceite es forzado a girar dentro de un tambor o disco rotatorio . Las partículas , por su mayor masa , son proyectadas hacia el exterior y quedan atrapadas en la periferia o en una cámara recolectora , mientras el aceite limpio retorna al motor desde el centro . Este sistema es simple y duradero , ideal para retirar basura gruesa y proteger componentes en entornos polvorientos , pero necesita limpieza periódica y no sustituir completamente a filtros de alta eficiencia para partículas finas .
