1

: Some may argue that video games are harmful for teens because they can lead to addiction , social isolation , and negative effects on brain developmen t

2

: For example , Text 3 explains that excessive gaming can physically rewire the adolescent brain , reducing gray matter and impairing the prefrontal cortex , which controls judgment and impulse control ( Text 3 , lines 10 - 35 ) .

3

: At first glance , this idea appears convincing because it highlights serious risks such as behavioral problems and withdrawal symptoms that come from the dopamine " rush " triggered by gaming .

4

: However , this argument is wrong because it focuses only on extreme cases of excessive gaming rather than moderate play .

5

: Text 2 clarifies that negative consequences are mostly associated with excessive gaming and that moderate video game play shows little evidence of serious health effects ( Text 2 , lines 40 - 45 ) .

6

: This quote shows that video games can actually improve reaction times , hand - eye coordination , and cognitive skills , which are beneficial for adolescent development .

7

: Therefore , despite this opposing view , the stronger argument is that video games , when played in moderation and with appropriate content , can be a positive activity that enhances learning , brain function , and social interaction .
