What is a project ? A project is a temporary initiative aimed at producing a unique product , service , or result . Unlike everyday tasks or ongoing business activities , a project has a clear beginning and end . It is structured around the following components :

What are the stages of project management ?
The five project management process groups are :

- Initiating : This phase involves defining the project ? s goals and objectives . Often , a is held at the start to align everyone involved on the project ? s purpose , expectations , and potential ( such as budget or resource limits ) .
- Planning : during this phase , the project manager creates a or detailed plan to ensure the project will meet all the requirements . The plan includes key ( important points or achievements along the timeline ) , as well as an understanding of any constraints or limitations that might affect the project .
- Executing and : the project team is formed , and work begins . The project manager constantly tracks progress , ensuring that everything is on schedule and within budget . - Closing : the project is completed , a post - mortem is held , and the project is transferred to another team who will it .

A project manager is responsible for overseeing the entire process of a project from start to finish . Their main task is to make sure the project is completed on time , within budget , and meets the objectives . They begin by creating a project plan that includes the project ? s scope ( what needs to be done ) , the schedule , and the budget . They also assemble the right team , assigning specific tasks to each member .

Throughout the project , the project manager monitors progress , ensures that are met , and resolves any that arise . They coordinate the team ? s efforts , making sure everyone works toward the same goal . Once the project is , the project manager ensures that the final results meet the expected quality standards and that the project is successfully delivered .
