در فاز تحریک ناپذیری نسبی اگر تحریک قوی به سلولهای قلبی وارد شود قبل از پایان رپولاریزاسیون، دپولاریزاسیون بعدی شروع می شود

بار الکتریکی درون سلولهای قلبی در فاز استراحت منفی است چون تعداد یون مثبت کمتری از بیرون سلول دارد

فاز کفه در پتانسیل عمل مربوط به دپولاریزاسیون قلبی بوده و در نتیجه ورود یون کلسیم به سلول اتفاق می افتد

یون منفی کلر در اولین فاز دپولاریزاسیون وارد سلولهای قلبی می شود

کانال‌های پتاسیم مسئول رپلاریزاسیون در فاز 3 پتانسیل عمل است
