Se usa para separar oraciones independientes cuando no hay suficiente fuerza para un punto , o para enlazar ideas relacionadas con un solo pensamiento . También sirve antes de conectores como sin embargo , por tanto o , además , para marcar una relación entre cláusulas . En listas complejas , el punto y coma evita confusiones cuando hay comas internas ; así se mejora la claridad del texto .
