Rumus suku ke-n pada barisan aritmatika adalah Un=a+(n+1)b, di mana a adalah suku pertama dan b adalah beda.

Seorang anak menabung Rp50.000 di bulan pertama. Jika setiap bulan berikutnya uang tabungannya bertambah Rp10.000, maka jumlah uang tabungannya di bulan ke-7 adalah Rp110.000.

Setiap barisan bilangan yang memiliki pola tetap (konstan) pasti merupakan barisan aritmatika.

Barisan bilangan 2,5,8,11,… merupakan barisan aritmatika dengan beda (selisih) sebesar 3.

Jika suku pertama (a) adalah 4 dan beda (b) adalah 5, maka jumlah 4 suku pertama (S4) adalah 34.
