Durante la época del de Córdoba , en el siglo , la ciudad se convirtió en una de las más grandes y brillantes del mundo . Era la de al - Ándalus y un importante centro político , cultural y económico . Se calcula que vivían allí más de medio de personas , una cifra enorme para la época . Sus calles estaban iluminadas con faroles , tenía públicos , mercados llenos de productos de todo el mundo y magníficos jardines y palacios .
La de Córdoba , con sus columnas y arcos de colores , era el símbolo del poder y la fe . En la ciudad también había con miles de libros , escuelas y universidades donde trabajaban musulmanes , judíos y cristianos . Córdoba fue un lugar donde florecieron las ciencias , la , la filosofía y las artes . Era conocida como " la de al - Ándalus " por su riqueza y su esplendor .
