إذا كان للكسرين مقامات مختلفة، يمكن تحويلهما إلى مقام مشترك قبل الجمع.

للمقامات السالبة لا يجوز جمع الكسور.

إذا كان للمقامين نفس المقام، لا يجوز جمع الكسور.

عند طرح كسرين، نطرح المقام فقط.

عند تبسيط كسر، نقسم البسط والمقام على نفس القاسم المشترك الأكبر.

عند تبسيط كسر، نقسم البسط فقط.

في ضرب الكسور، ليس للمقام أي تأثير على الناتج.

عند طرح كسرين بنفس المقام، نطرح البسطين.

عند ضرب كسرين، نقول: نضرب البسطين معاً ونضرب المقامين معاً.

لجمع كسرين بعنصر واحد يحتاجان إلى مقام مشترك.
