Pollution is the introduction of substances or energy into the environment , causing damage to organisms and . It can occur in different forms such as air , water , land , , and thermal pollution , each disrupting the natural balance of the environment . Pollution biodiversity , contaminates resources , and contributes to change , both humans and wildlife . Major causes include industrial waste , vehicle emissions , agricultural runoff , and poor waste management . pollution requires collective responsibility through recycling , using clean energy , and promoting environmental awareness .
