Multiplying follows simple : a times a positive is positive , a times a negative is positive , and a positive times a negative is negative . To solve , multiply the and then apply the correct sign . For example , 7 × ( - 4 ) = - 28 because 7 and 4 are positive and their is 28 , but the differ . Likewise , ( - 6 ) × ( - 3 ) = 18 . Remember to check your units and keep track of the signs to avoid errors .
