Second Conditional describes unreal or improbable situations in the present or future . It uses or 'If he were' to introduce the condition , followed by a result with 'would' plus the base verb . For example , If I were richer , I the world . , you would improve ; if you had more time , you would learn new skills . Note that this structure expresses wishes and hypothetical outcomes rather than real events .
