Good writing uses connectors to join ideas clearly . Coordinating words , often called , include for , and , nor , but , or , yet , so , and they help combine short ideas into one sentence . Transition Words such as , , as a consequence , and guide the flow between sentences . When you argue a point , you may start with a reason it supports your claim , yet you should also consider a counterpoint to keep balance . Finally , choose the connector that best matches the relationship you want to express .
