En español , las letras g y j suenan distinto según la vocal que les siga . Por ejemplo , cuando g va antes de e o i , se escribe con una erre suave : ge o gi , como en . También aparece la jota , que da nombre a palabras como y jinete . En otros casos , palabras como o gema muestran la consonante suave cuando va después de una vocal abierta . La de ortografía ayuda a evitar errores .
