Semua huruf dalam bahasa Arab memiliki makhraj tunggal yang sama persis.

Qalqalah adalah hentakan suara saat huruf qalqalah (contoh: ق، د، ب، ج، ط، ك) saat membaca dengan berhenti atau berdenyut.

Ghunnah adalah dengung suara panjang pada huruf nun sakinah dan tanwin mim sakinah saat bacaan tertentu.

Makhraj adalah tempat keluarnya huruf dari mulut, hidung, atau tenggorokan.

Qalqalah hanya dipakai ketika membaca secara lantang, tidak saat membaca tenang.
