El ACE debe tener dominio teórico y práctico en la materia a impartir

El ACE no debe contar con certificación CONOCER o documentos que acrediten formación en impartición de cursos.

El ACE debe ser competente para realizar diagnóstico de necesidades de capacitación y evaluar el aprendizaje.

No es necesario que el ACE tenga capacidad para conectar, motivar y mantener la atención del grupo.

El ACE debe tener poca habilidad para gestionar la comunicación y participación.

Una de las áreas temáticas principales para ACE es la de Salud y Seguridad en el trabajo (NOMs)

Los agentes externos no deben diseñar cursos a medida, tampoco emitir constancias de competencias (DC-3) ni asegurar el cumplimiento de normativas vigentes.

Para el registro se necesita el formato DC-5, identificación oficial, dos fotos tamaño infantil, y si aplica, el acta constitutiva para personas morales.

En la experiencia comprobable se debe acreditar al menos 1 año de experiencia en el área de especialización.

Los cursos registrados deben ser detallados (nombre, duración, temas). Se debe garantizar que el contenido cumpla con estándares de calidad.

No es obligatorio mantener actualizada la información, incluyendo cambios de domicilio, nuevos cursos o modificaciones en la plantilla de instructores, usando el mismo formato DC-5.

Al estar registrados, los ACE son los únicos autorizados para expedir constancias de competencias o habilidades laborales bajo el formato DC-3.
