Los árabes realizaron aportes en distintas áreas del : en matemática introdujeron el número cero , el sistema de numeración decimal , el álgebra y el uso de ecuaciones y la ; en el arte desarrollaron la geométrica , los mosaicos , los arabescos y la caligrafía árabe como forma artística ; en medicina crearon hospitales públicos , avanzaron en cirugía , estudiaron enfermedades y anatomía y elaboraron , destacándose obras como el Canon de la Medicina de Avicena ; en ciencia realizaron avances en astronomía , química , óptica y promovieron el uso del método y la construcción de observatorios ; y en la lengua tradujeron textos clásicos , el conocimiento escrito , crearon grandes bibliotecas y aportaron numerosas palabras al como álgebra , alcohol , azúcar , algodón y almohada .
