En la escuela , los estudiantes de grado quinto quieren medir el patio rectangular donde juegan en el descanso . El patio tiene 8 metros de largo y 5 metros de ancho . Para saber cuántos metros se necesitan para rodear todo el patio , deben calcular el ; sumar todos los lados del rectángulo . Además , para conocer cuántos metros cuadrados ocupa el patio y cuántas baldosas podrían cubrirlo , es necesario hallar el , multiplicando el largo por el ancho . Si se suman todos los lados del patio , el resultado es , y al multiplicar el largo por el ancho se obtiene cuadrados .
