Los de transmisión guiados son aquellos que un soporte físico para las señales de información desde un emisor hasta un receptor , permitiendo una más estable , controlada y en comparación con los medios no guiados . Entre los más utilizados se encuentran el par trenzado , el cable y la fibra óptica , cada uno con características específicas que su uso según la necesidad . El par trenzado , ampliamente empleado en redes y de datos , se destaca por su bajo y facilidad de instalación , aunque es más susceptible a interferencias . El cable coaxial ofrece mayor protección contra interferencias y permite transmitir señales a mayores distancias con mejor calidad , siendo común en sistemas de televisión por cable e internet .
