Rumus penjumlahan: a/b + c/d = (a+c)/bd.

Contoh: 1/3 + 2/5 = 11/15.

Contoh: 2/7 + 3/7 = 4/7.

Jika penyebutnya sama, cukup menjumlahkan pembilangnya: a/b + c/b = (a+c)/b.

Jika dua pecahan memiliki penyebut yang sama, pembilangnya harus dikurangi, bukan dijumlahkan.

Rumus umum penjumlahan pecahan adalah a/b + c/d = (ad+bc)/bd untuk b dan d tidak sama dengan 0.

Setelah penjumlahan, hasilnya dapat disederhanakan jika pembilang dan penyebut memiliki faktor bersama.

Untuk menjumlahkan pecahan dengan penyebut berbeda, ubah menjadi penyebut yang sama.

Saat penyebut berbeda, bilangan bulat bisa langsung dijumlahkan tanpa mengubah penyebut.
