There's lots of bacteria . . . . let's review . . . .
comma - shaped bacteria are call . rod shaped are called , and corkscrew shaped are called . That last one is easy if you know what shape a corkscrew goes in . . . yep , a spiral .
What about a spherical bacteria ? That one is called a . Hmm . weird . The chains of coccus bacteria that cause strep throat ( ouch ) are . Sounds like an octopus with a bad sore throat . But for real , coccus + strep throat = .

What if it's a cluster of bacteria that can cause a staph infection ? That one is called . duh . A thin walled bacteria that is pink when Gram - staining dyes are applied is called Gram . If it's a thick wall and is purple then it is a Gram . That's how they do tests at doctor's offices , etc .
A microscopic , unicellular , uff , big words , have rigid cell walls made of proteins and live in some of the most environments . They are called . Lots of vowels in that one .
