Last Monday , many students were absent from school ( 1 ) heavy rain in the morning . Some roads were flooded , ( 2 ) many parents decided to keep their children at home . ( 3 ) the bad weather lasted for hours , the school environment became quiet and learning activities were not effective . Several classes were combined ( 4 ) the lack of students . ( 5 ) , the teachers gave shorter lessons and focused on essential materials . The students understood the situation , ( 6 ) they did not complain about the schedule changes . ( 7 ) the condition improved in the afternoon , extracurricular activities could still be conducted . ( 8 ) , the school day ended earlier than usual .
