About this activity
Students watch a short video (20–60 seconds) about Matt Suter’s incredible survival in a 2006 tornado in Missouri, USA. The video shows dramatic reenactments, photos of the destroyed trailer, a map of the distance (~400 meters), and explains his Guinness World Record for the farthest distance survived inside a tornado. After watching, students answer 4–5 multiple-choice questions to check comprehension of key details (e.g., where Matt was, how far he was carried, what happened to his grandmother, and his injuries). The activity practices listening, reading, and understanding real-life extreme weather stories.
