To describe size and degree in English , we often add - er or - to short adjectives like tall , neat , and small , but for longer ones we use or , for example and . For distance , many speakers prefer and instead of more or most far . When there is just a little difference , you can use an intensifier like " a " though other constructions are possible . If something is excessive , you might say too or not , if you need more of something .
