The Legend of Toba Lake

Long ago , in Sumatra , there lived a poor farmer who lived alone . One day , he went to the river to catch some fish . After waiting for a long time , he finally a big fish . When he brought the fish home , something magical happened . The fish suddenly turned into a beautiful woman .

The woman told the farmer that she was actually a cursed . She said she would him if he promised not to tell anyone about her secret . The farmer agreed to keep the , and they got married . After some time , they had a son named Samosir .

Samosir grew up to be a boy . One day , his mother asked him to deliver to his father who was working in the field . However , on the way there , Samosir ate the food because he was very . When the farmer asked for the food , Samosir said he had already eaten it .

The became very angry . Without thinking , he shouted at Samosir and called him the son of a fish . At that moment , the farmer realized that he had broken his to his wife .

Suddenly , the sky turned dark and heavy rain began to fall . The ground started to shake , and came out from the earth . The water became bigger and bigger until it formed a large lake . The lake is now known as Lake Toba , and the small island in the middle is called Samosir .
