Gaya gesek dipengaruhi oleh luas benda yang bergesekan dan tingkat kehalusan permukaan yang bergesekan

Besar resultan gaya menunjukkan dua hal yaitu besar gaya total dari seluruh gaya yang bekerja pada benda dan arah dari gaya

Gaya gesek terjadi ketika dua permukaan benda saling bersentuhan

Dalam fisika, apabila gaya-gaya yang bekerja saling berlawanan arah maka gaya totalnya atau resultan gayanya adalah selisih dari gaya-gaya tersebut
