The seven MIL dimensions do not include Critical Literacy or Publishing Literacy.

Media literacy concerns only print media and excludes digital, visual, or interactive media.

Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media.

Media literacy helps people understand how media work, how they produce meaning, and how they are organized and how they construct reality.

MIL can be integrated in the classroom by teaching students to evaluate media and by showing reliable digital resources and databases.

MIL comprises seven dimensions including Tool Literacy, Resource Literacy, Social-Structural Literacy, Research Literacy, Publishing Literacy, Emerging Technology Literacy, and Critical Literacy.

UNESCO defines MIL as the set of competencies to search, critically evaluate, use and contribute information and media content wisely; the knowledge of one's rights online.
