Spring break was finally here , and my was to have fun , rest , and try new things . My family planned a short trip to the beach . My little sister was at first ? she did not want to leave her toys ? but once we packed her favorite blanket she cheered up .
When we arrived , the ocean seemed almost . The water stretched so far that it was hard to imagine where it ended . My dad , who is at building sandcastles , began to create a huge fortress with towers and a moat . He worked quickly and carefully , showing us how to smooth the walls and sculpt windows .
I wanted to learn , so I watched and copied his steps . My was to make my own small castle beside his . My sister , being , ran toward the waves and laughed as the water splashed her . She was not scared at all even when a bigger wave came .
By lunchtime we were ravenous . The sandwiches and fruit tasted extra good after all the running and digging . Later , we read an from a picture book that could a family on a summer trip . The book ? s words and pictures helped me remember how peaceful the beach felt .
In the afternoon , a seagull tried to steal our chips . My mom became and waved her hand to scare the bird away . Then she explained calmly why we should keep food in containers to avoid attracting animals . She used careful words to justify the rules so we would understand .
That evening , we decided to on our day by drawing and writing about it . We drew the sandcastles , the tall waves , and the bright sun . I tried to the moment my sister jumped over a small wave ? it looked like a tiny hero in my picture . When I wrote , I wanted to the fun we had and how brave my sister was .
Even though the beach was large and the sea looked , the day made me feel close to my family . I thought about how small adventures during spring break can become memories that I will remember for a long time .
