In English , tag questions are formed by adding an auxiliary verb to the end of the main clause to seek agreement . For example : 'You are coming , ? ' These structures confirm or seek confirmation . If the clause is affirmative , the negative form is used : 'She works on weekends , ? ' If it is negative : 'They aren't late , ? ' There are also variations with modals and perfect tenses : 'We could try it , ? ' Another common construction is : 'You will help , ? ' Finally : 'They have finished , ? '
