Vòng tuần hoàn carbon là sự chuyển động liên tục của carbon trong tự nhiên, từ khí quyển vào đất và nước, rồi trở lại khí quyển.

Quá trình quang hợp: là cơ chế mà cây xanh và một số vi sinh vật sử dụng ánh sáng mặt trời để chuyển đổi carbon dioxide và nước thành glucose và oxy.

Quá trình hô hấp là giai đoạn trong đó các sinh vật thải ra oxy và hấp thụ carbon dioxide vào khí quyển.
