Nació en Londres en 1700 y fue considerada una compositora británica de nacimiento.

A los 18 publicó The Six Sets of Lessons for the Harpsichord (1749), un logro excepcional para una mujer del siglo XVIII.

No dirigió sus propias obras; fue solo intérprete.

Su obra más famosa fue para piano y violín y se publicó en 1800.

Su catálogo incluye música para clavecín, flauta y bajo continuo; voz y órgano; trompas y timbales; piano y violín; coro y otros conjuntos.

Elisabetta de Gambarini nació en una familia culta y cosmopolita, con varios idiomas en casa.

Su muerte ocurrió en 1770 tras una larga enfermedad, no por parto.

Handel la criticó duramente y obstaculizó su carrera, a pesar de admiración inicial.

Murió en 1765 con solo 33 años, y se sospecha que pudo fallecer durante el parto.
