همزة الوصل تُكتب على ألف وصل وتُلفظ عند الابتداء وتُسكت عند الوقف.

جميع همزات القطع تُكتب فقط على الألف.

همزة القطع تُلفظ عند البدء بالكلام وتُكتب في أشكال مختلفة حسب الحرف الذي يليها.

هناك حالة واحدة فقط للهمزة وهي على الألف

همزة الياء تُكتب دائماً كـأયْئ عند كل حالة.

همزة القطع يمكن أن تُكتب على الألف (أ)، وعلى الواو (ؤ)، وعلى الياء (ئ).

الهمزة الوصل لا تُكتب في أي شكل من أشكال الكتابة.

هناك نوعان من الهمزة: همزة القطع وهمزة الوصل.

أمثلة على همزة القطع تشمل كلمات مثل: أمْلَتْ وكَأْسٍ تُكتب عليها همزة قطع.
