Pembelajaran huruf membantu membaca Al - Quran . Pada akhirnya kata , tanda ( Harakat ) muncul sebagai penanda bunyi vokal . Tanda menandakan bunyi 'an' dengan fathah di atas huruf , sedangkan tanda menandakan bunyi 'un' dengan dhammah . Banyak kata bahasa menggunakan variasi Alif ( atau tanda alif ) untuk melunakkan pelafalan akhir kata ( tanwin fathah ) . Selain itu , ada juga tanda Kasratain yang menandakan bunyi dengan kasrah . berikut ini cntohnya :
