Explanation

It's worth noting that many English-speaking denominations call their Sunday service (what we call 'teaching service'): Worship service, service of worship or Sunday worship. The term 'teaching service' was chosen given that we understand the act of worshiping and praising rather differently based on instructions from the Holy Spirit in the early days of our church.

Wedding: The ceremony during which a man and a woman are married before God. Matrimony: the state or ceremony of being married. For example: A couple joined in matrimony. Marriage: the state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship.

While in Spanish it is common to say 'celebrar las exequias,' refrain from saying 'celebrate a funeral service,' since this is not only an erroneous syntax but might also be offensive to the listener, since 'celebrate' connotes joy or happiness. Consequently, what the listener might gather from this incorrect expression would be, 'We are happy that this person has passed away and as a result, we are going to celebrate his funeral.' Ideally, the verb should be either 'conduct' or 'hold.' For example: 1) Today we are conducting this funeral service. 2) The funeral service will be held on Friday.

Avoid the literal rendition “the Lord’s dinner.” However, be mindful that the Bible does use it as a verb dine with (See Revelation 3:20)

Traditionally, we had used 'baptism in water.' However, after careful consideration, the consensus indicates that 'water baptism' is a more natural rendition. The preferred verb to use in this case is the verb TO BE ('To be water baptized' or 'to be baptized into water') rather than 'TO GET' ('To get water baptized') since the latter is somewhat informal. You do not need to use the full expression 'water baptism' every single time, since it is more common to simply use 'baptism' for English-speaking people. However, you will need to use the full term whenever you are also referring to the baptism with the Holy Spirit for clarity purposes.

As an initial matter, for all services in English, we do not use the literal interpretation of the word 'guianza', namely 'guidance' because the English version does not adequately capture the same meaning that its Spanish counterpart does and would only serve to confuse an English-speaking audience.
