L'escultura i la pintura romanes van rebre una forta influència , però van aportar elements propis molt .
Una de les grans aportacions en l'escultura va ser el , que buscava un total per identificar la representada .
També van destacar en la creació de situats en espais públics que servien per narrar fets de la de Roma o escenes de la vida dels seus ciutadans .
En el camp de la , els romans van utilitzar diverses tècniques segons on s'aplicava l'art .
Per decorar les solien fer servir la al fresc , mentre que per als creaven fets amb petites peces anomenades tessel·les .
Els temes eren molt variats i incloïen des de i mitologia fins a arquitectòniques i escenes .
Igual que passava en l'escultura , en la també va destacar el pel seu gran detallisme i el seu marcat .
