El sistema operativo es el programa principal que permite el funcionamiento del . Dentro de él se encuentra el , también llamado núcleo , que se encarga de administrar los recursos del equipo .
Cuando un usuario hace doble sobre una aplicación , el sistema operativo busca el archivo en el duro y verifica si hay espacio suficiente en la memoria . Si hay espacio , la aplicación se carga y el procesa las instrucciones para mostrar la información en la pantalla .
El sistema operativo también organiza la información mediante y subcarpetas , las cuales permiten guardar diferentes de manera ordenada . Cada archivo tiene una que indica el tipo de contenido , por ejemplo : . jpg para imágenes o . mp3 para audio .
Existen diferentes sistemas operativos como , Linux , Android y macOS . Algunos tienen licencia , donde el código es secreto , y otros licencia , donde el código puede ser modificado por programadores .
